The way we work is changing. Australians are increasingly employed in non-traditional industries, working flexible hours and using technology to work anywhere. Expectations of leaders are changing with an ever-increasing imperative to innovate and build dynamic workplace cultures.
The Centre for Workplace Leadership in partnership with ACCI, Cisco Systems Australia and Clayton Utz explored workplaces of the future at the inaugural conference The Future of Work: People, Place, Technology (9-10 April 2014).
The Future of Work: People, Place, Technology brought together business leaders and thinkers to examine what is happening to work and how we can prepare.
With a program of key note lectures, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities designed to share tools and ideas, increase productivity and boost profits, the conference enabled employees, managers, business leaders and business owners to access cutting edge technology, research and thinking on the modern workplace and beyond.
2014 highlights included:
- Opening keynote address from one-time chief evangelist of Apple Guy Kawasaki sharing his global view of the changes and challenges that have informed our understanding of people, place and technology.
- Insights into people management from global future of work expert Lynda Gratton of the London Business School.
- An opportunity to explore new technology including virtual environments and 3D printing and discover new ways of training and professional development within the real life, virtual environments – with expert in engineering education and Club Melbourne Ambassador Professor David Shallcross.
- Author, educator and Director of Social Leadership Australia Geoff Aigner examines misunderstandings about what leadership in the lucky country really is, can or should be, and shares his views on how it’s possible for Australian leadership to be inspiring, sustainable and effective.
